An Epic Series race in which islands are the stages, goat paths are trails, and the sea plays hide and seek? That is 4Islands MTB Croatia. This unique race takes teams for 262km and 5720m climbing across 4 different islands during its 5 stages. Team Bikehigh -Jasper Lefevre and Maruša Knap- conquered the rocks of the 2022 Edition and finished fourth in the General Classification standings. Closing the 4th stage with a third position win in the mix team category.
Kvarner islands in Croatia are tough; covered with rocks, roots and all kinds of surprises covering a challenging playground. More than 2000 mountain bikers left their blood, sweat, and tears on the beautiful trails as they pushed their limits to claim the finisher medals.
This year Team Bikehigh was invited to compete the race by Ciovita, an international cycling kit company with headquarters in Cape Town, South Africa. Designing and manufacturing cyclewear for teams and individuals around the world, from weekend warriors through to world champions, and also the leaders jerseys during the 4Islands MTB.
Prologue - 13km 300m Climbing - Short and Salty
Set in Baška, the Prologue was delivered real mountain biking from the start and showcased exactly what to expect over the coming four days. Singletrack was the name of the game on the climbs and descents. While the climbs were steep and demanding, the views over Baška Bay and the surrounding hills were magnificent.
The finishing sections on the macadam roads were faster and offered -those not that technically gifted- the chance to claw back a few seconds before tackling Stage 1 and the rest of Krk’s trails.
